My Story

I unfortunately did not grow up in a Christian household. I went to youth group for a few years in my teen years but I never really learned about Jesus or what the Gospel is. I battled with depression since I was in middle school but it became worse towards the end of high school. I came to college and immediately fell in to sin looking for an outlet to cope with my mental illness. I was partying, drinking, smoking, and committing sexual sin during my freshman year. Towards the end of my freshman year, I had a spiritual encounter with a demonic presence and it was revealed to me that hell is a real place. After discovering this knowledge I decided that if hell is real then Heaven must be real. I then went and bought a bible and started reading it. I became plugged in with Community University on High Point's campus and started to pursue a relationship with the Lord. Fall of my sophomore year I started discipleship and I finished in the spring. I was then baptized the weekend after Easter, almost a year since I started to pursue Jesus. Ever since I met Jesus my life has completely changed. I no longer turn towards sin to cope with suffering and I no longer am trapped in anxiety and depression. I have experienced true joy that God has given me and I now find my identity in being a daughter of king. He has brought me out of the darkness that I was living in and now I am walking beside Him living in an abundance of joy, peace, comfort, and love.
